Historical figures
For centuries, biblical figures such as David and Herod remained figures of faith, with no material proof of their existence. Some even thought they were purely legendary. Yet, thanks to archaeological digs and historical research, concrete evidence has come to light: engraved stones, ancient ossuaries and clay tablets now tell a fascinating story: one where faith meets reality.
A multi-year investigation by Lawrence J. Mykytiuk of Purdue University (Indiana, U.S.A.) has yielded historical and archaeological evidence for 53 biblical figures whose existence has been confirmed.
These exceptional discoveries bring ancient history and religious faith closer together than ever before. This evidence does not attest to every biblical account in minute detail, but it does show that behind the sacred texts lie real historical figures.
As research continues, more legendary figures may yet emerge from the past. The journey to link spiritual memory and human history has only just begun.
