Numismatics
Numismatics is the scientific study of coins, medals and monetiform objects through the ages. The discipline has a dual aspect: it is both an auxiliary science of history and an exciting collecting activity. The term has its roots in ancient Greek nomisma (coin) derived from nomos (law), for it is the law that determines the official value of species. When we analyze a rare piece, we're not just contemplating a metal disc, but a direct witness to past civilizations.
